Massage

Massage and soft tissue therapy

SOFT TISSUE THERAPY aims to treat all minor and chronic injuries, whether caused through sport or any other lifestyle factors, using massage and other more advanced techniques. It also aims to identify the root causes of injury, such as poor posture, past injury or occupational stress factors and offers more long-term improvements in physical wellbeing and injury prevention.

SPORTS MASSAGE specialises in deep tissue/ remedial massage, concentrating on any areas of specific pain and injury. Working alongside the chiropractors this helps ease muscle pain and prevent further injuries and damage.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE is a wonderful complementary choice for parental care. It is a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness. Massage relieves many of the normal discomforts experienced during pregnancy such as backaches, stiff neck, headaches and swelling. It can help calm both yourself and baby. We would recommend that you have this massage during the second and third trimester.

LOW LEVEL LASER THERAPY

Suzanne Young also used Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBMT), also known as Low-Level Light and Laser Therapy (LLLT) or cold laser therapy, to speed up the healing process and manage pain and inflammation.

How does it do this?

PBMT uses red and/or near infrared light energy at specific wavelengths and dosage to increase in anti-inflammatory mediators, cell function and blood flow, thereby improving the body's ability to reduce inflammation, regenerate injured tissue and improve circulation.

PBMT has been used since the 1960s, and as research has accumulated, it is now considered an evidence-based therapy that supports more traditional therapies like physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic, and osteopathy.

Help for many conditions

Over 1700 human clinical trials have found it to be effective in treating musculoskeletal injuries and overuse conditions including muscle strains, ligament sprains, fractures, tendinopathies, cartilage tears, and bursitis as well as arthritis management, pain management, nerve and wound healing, and its use can reduce the amount of scar tissue generated during recovery.

We use the Bioflex equipment (bioflexlaser.com) to deliver PBMT as it maximises light penetration by decreasing reflection. It is non-invasive, generates no heat and can also be used when injuries are too painful for manual therapy.
